CCSRA LUNCH – Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at NOON
113 N. DelGuzzi Drive
We have an opportunity to find our more about the perks of being a Washington School Retirees” Association (WSSRA and CCSRA) member. Jeff Burgess from Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA) will give a short presentation about membership benefits and will stay after the meeting to answer any extra questions.
Our main guest speaker will be Mike Soiseth from CCH Individualized Support Services, an organization that serves adults with life-long disabilities in Clallam and Jefferson Counties.
Let us know that you will be coming to the meeting by 3:00 pm Sunday, November 17, 2019, if possible, by calling Darlene Jones (360-457-5352) or Jill Oakes (360-417-3012) or Marcia Homer (360-683-4317 – leave a message). It’s okay to come even if you miss the deadline. We just like to have a general idea so the restaurant knows how many places to set. Sometimes the restaurant workers have to scramble to set up more tables, but they are happy to have us.
Each attendee is able to order any item from the menu. A free dessert is usually included after lunch.
Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner items are offered. There is also a daily special.
STATE NEWS: PROPERTY TAX RELIEF?
Plan 1 COLA (Unfortunately, this is the same time as our meeting, but if you’re in that area…)
Dear WSSRA Leader:
The Washington State Select Committee on Pension Policy will be meeting on Tuesday, November 19th to discuss re-endorsement of Plan 1 COLA Legislation. If you are available and in the south Puget Sound region, it would be helpful to have concerned citizens in the audience. An empty room always signifies a lack of interest.
The SCPP will meet on November 19th at 10:00 am in House Hearing Room A. Parking on the capitol campus is $2.00 per hour. Free parking and a free shuttle is available at the Olympia Farmers Market. https://www.intercitytransit.com/bus/routes/dash-101
The committee will also be televised on TVW.
Peter Diedrick, Legislative Director
Washington State School Retirees’ Association
CCSRA officers are president, Lora Brabant; vice president, Beverly Brown; secretary, Linda Boyd; and treasurer, Arlene Morganroth. Marcia Homer is membership chair. Mary Bell is Sunshine Person. If you know of someone who could use a greeting card from us, please let Mary know. We are still in need of a new historian. If you’re interested or even curious, ask an officer.
We are still collecting new and gently used children’s books for First Step in Port Angeles and Head Start in Sequim. You are welcome to bring books or monetary donations to any of the luncheons. Books will be delivered in May.
Low Cost Fundraiser: We will continue to collect money for the Washington State School Retirees Political Action Committee which works in partnership with our organization. Each month a basket with candies will be passed around. You are invited to donate and take a treat. If you wish to donate more, you can do it online at <wssr-pac.org> or you can write a check to WSSR-PAC and put it in the basket. Any donation of $25 or more lets legislators know there is another person on the list who cares about what is happening in Olympia. You can also write a check to WSSR-PAC and mail it to:
