GREETINGS FROM CLALLAM COUNTY SCHOOL RETIREES’ ASSOCIATION (CCSRA – Unit 3)

If you are a new member, welcome! If you are still working as a school employee, we know that it is unlikely that you can attend, but we want to keep you aware of what we do. If you are a cash member who pays dues once a year and decide to change to dues deduction, please let us know. Your reward will be $10 off your first luncheon at Joshua’s Restaurant after you sign up. Any new person who joins us will receive $10 toward their lunch.  If you would like to join, please contact Marcia Homer (360-683-4317).

CCSRA LUNCH – Tuesday, March 19th, 2019 at NOON

Joshua’s Restaurant
113 N. DelGuzzi Drive
Port Angeles

MENU:
Menu items start at $8.
Soup, Soup and Salad, just Salad Bar, a Lunch Special, or off the Menu Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner items are offered.

Please reply if you will be attending.

Let us know by 3:00 the Sunday prior to each meeting, if possible, by calling Darlene Jones (360-457-5352) or Jill Oakes (360-417-3012) or Marcia Homer (360-683-4317).  It’s okay to come even if you miss the deadline. We just like to have a general idea so the restaurant knows how many places to set. Sometimes the restaurant workers have to scramble to set up more tables, but they are happy to have us.

PROGRAM:
Our guest speaker will be Kathy Estes, director of the North Olympic History Center. Kathy is going to talk about the 2019 Hands on History Project. We have eleven students participating in Grades 6-12 who are researching topics they chose about Clallam County History. All of the topics have surprising relevance to today and many have significant national and international significance. There will an invitation to attend the public presentations on April 7, 2019.

UNIT NEWS:
We will be accepting nominations for the CCSRA community service award. Please share with anyone on the board if you have an idea of someone who would be a good candidate for the award.

If anyone is interested in running for office as president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer, please let us know. We also need a new historian. Think about volunteering for this position.

LOOKING AHEAD:

BOOK CLUB: at 1:00 on second Thursday    This month it is on the 14th.

At 1:00 on the second Thursday of each month, the CCSRA book club meets in the “Library” at Traylor’s Restaurant.  Bring a book to share or learn about some books you might want to read – an informal meeting of folks who like to read. Come and enjoy the camaraderie and a meal or snack. This group meets year round.

Coming Meeting Dates:
April 16, May 21, and our potluck picnic will be June 18. Please mark your calendars. We hope to see you! Please contact me if you have questions about our meetings.
