February Speaker Information

MENU:

Menu items start at $8.

Soup, Soup and Salad, just Salad Bar, a Lunch Special, or off the Menu Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner items are offered.

Wendy Brudge will speak about medical marijuana.

WHY DO WE BELONG TO CCSRA?

To protect our retirement.  We’re not asking for more, we just want to keep what we have.

Lora Brabant has started a Facebook group for us. (You must be on Facebook to be included.)  It is closed, so Lora has to approve each “friend.”  We can post photos, events and comments that can be seen only by our group.

DECEMBER COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT

Lora delivered 154 children’s books to the library of First Step Family Support Center.

SAVE THE DATE: APRIL 7, 2016 trip to SEATTLE ART MUSEUM

Admission is free on the 7th.  Group will leave PA Wal-Mart at 7:15 a.m.  Return is planned about 8 p.m.  You need to sign up if you’re going so there’s enough transportation.

We’re putting together baskets to be raffled.  Anything you make or donate will be accepted.  Local items are especially appreciated.

BOOK CLUB: February 11, 2016 at 1:30

The book club meets the second Thursday of the month in the Library at Traylor’s Restaurant at 1:30 p.m.  Bring a book to share or learn about some books you might want to read.  This is an informal meeting of folks who like to read.

FUTURE LUNCHES:

We meet on the third Tuesday of each month from September through May with lunch at noon, followed by a program.  Come a bit early so we can all be seated by noon.

PAHS Grad to Speak at Celebrate Education Dinner

On March 11, 2016, the Port Angeles Education Foundation will have their annual fundraising Celebrate Education Dinner at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N Lincoln Street, Port Angeles, Washington.

The guest speaker will be Leigh Morgan, Chief Operating Officer of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  Leigh graduated from Port Angeles High School where she played basketball, including in the 1985-86 State Championship game.  Leigh earned a BA from Duke University and a Master’s Degree from American University.  She has served as associate chancellor at the University of California San Francisco, vice-president of Genentech, assistant director of the Carolina Justice Policy Center and helped establish the AmeriCorps National Service program while working in the office of the Governor of North Carolina.
